 Lead Qualified Teacher

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Positive Bright Start Child Care operates under the belief that all children have special needs and special strengths. In the appropriate learning environment all children can learn from their peers as well as their teachers. All teachers will have been trained in the Positive Behavior Support model. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a problem solving approach to behavioral support that uses assessment data to make decisions, preventative strategies to reduce incidence of challenging behavior, and instructional strategies to teach the child replacement skills for problem behavior.  Furthermore, we value diversity in our classroom and teaching staff, and as such we strive for equity in our workplace.  Teachers of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  

 

Purpose: The role of the Co-lead Teacher is to collaborate with and support other co-lead teachers in providing an educational and stimulating classroom environment for young children. Co-Lead teachers create a classroom where experiences are designed to develop self-esteem and positive self-image, social interaction, self-expression and communication skills, creative expression, intellectual growth, and ensure safety. This position will allow the right candidate to work with children ages 2.5years old to school age.

 

Hours required: Full time, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Lead Teacher qualification

* Knowledge of child development theory and practice

* Knowledge of applicable safety procedures

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with families, children and administration

* Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children

* Ability to exercise control and maintain positive classroom discipline

* Ability to self-motivate

* Flexible Schedule -- ability to respond on call

* Spanish speaking a plus

 

Minimum Job Requirements

* One year experience in a licensed childcare facility AND meet qualifications for K.A.R. 28-4-429(c)

* Health assessment and negative TB test on file

* Trained in First Aid, CPR, Child Development, Childhood Illness, Signs and Symptoms of Child Abuse with Abusive Head Trauma

* Satisfactory KBI Criminal Background Check

* Participate in Orientation Training at time of acceptance

* Participate in Positive Behavior Support Training and coaching

 

Pay Range: $12 per hour, plus insurance

The Site Director will create and help implement curriculum for an inclusive classroom, as well as track and highlight individual student abilities, achievements, and behaviors for curriculum modification.  This position will allow the right candidate to work with children ages 2.5 - 5 years old and a staff of teachers.

ECMH Therapist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose: To provide therapeutic interventions to children under the age of 6 and their families in Douglas County

Organizational Relationships: Direct report to the Team Leader of Therapeutic Interventions of Positive Bright Start

Responsibilities and Duties

●      Under the supervision of the Team Leader, provide intensive intervention for identified children. This may include, but not be limited to Play Therapy and Theraplay.

●      In partnership with parents, identify the need for and facilitate referrals to community resources and/or additional mental health services as appropriate.

●      Assist parents, teachers, caregivers to structure environments, routines and interactions that contribute to positive behavior possibly using positive behavior support strategies that promotes positive social-emotional outcomes for children.

●      Maintain information regarding parents or children, or other information of a personal nature shared by a parent in confidence.

●      Offer resources and strategies to parents and staff to enhance relationships, create appropriate environments, and teach social-emotional skills in children.

●      Maintain appropriate and timely electronic records for all clients.

●      Collect and maintain assessment data as required by any and all grants that provide funding for this position.

●      Lead or co-lead parenting classes or workshops as assigned.

Other:

●      Participate with other staff members in preparation for PBS activities, such as workshops, mini-conference, children’s fair, and provider recognition events

●      Maintain a cooperative working atmosphere with office staff

●      Assist with office upkeep, as assigned

●      Other duties, as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skills

●      MSW from accredited program or related field

●      Licensed

●      Play Therapy experience

●      Theraplay or Attachment training preferred

●      Early childhood experience

●      Strengths Perspective

●      Knowledge of community organizations, agencies and resources

●      Able to establish rapport and communicate with a wide variety of people

●      Good oral, written and phone communication skills

●      Ability to pass KBI child abuse/neglect registry check

 

This position is grant funded.

 

Job Type: Full-time, 30-32 hours per week, with flexibility

Salary: $20-22 per hour, depending on experience
