Play Therapy

THERAPY SERVICES

Mental Health services for children under six and their families

Our Play therapists work with children who display behavioral concerns at childcare or at home, who are working through grief and loss, anxiety, attachment concerns, or transitions such as divorce and foster care.   We also work with children who have a history of trauma including physical, sexual, or emotional abuse or neglect.   For information on what Play Therapy is, visit the Play Therapy website.

We are trained in Theraplay®, Child-centered Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, Child-Parent Relational Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy and are in the process of being trained in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics.

Parental Support

In addition to direct services for children, we offer Parental Support for the caregivers of the children receiving our services.  Our Therapists can help caregivers navigate the challenges of parenting, such as what to do about challenging behaviors, how to strengthen their caregiver/child bonds, and even helping parents to make connections to services in the community to meet their needs.

Fees

As part of a multifaceted commitment to the children of Douglas County, Positive Bright Start is a non-profit organization offering services to the benefit of the entire community, without financial restriction or encumbrance.  We offer services to Douglas County children and their families free of charge.
